Episode VII - Close Enough for Hand Grenades
In an episode that can no longer rely on a cleverly parodied Star Wars episode title, our heroes make absolutely no effort to touch on multiple subjects, deciding instead to simply retreat to the comfortable confines of the cinema. In between Tom being endlessly amused by a sequence involving a security guard and some toast, recalling Justin’s blunt assessment of Baby Face Nelson’s bank robbery behavior, and becoming the 48 millionth pair of nerds to show no love for ‘Avatar’, they simply read film titles off of a reverse-chronological list and feed them into a thoroughly deconstructive analysis of the annual summer movie season. Is the 2011 crop of big budget blockbusters the worst in a long time (as some have suggested)? Would Seth Rogen’s presence have improved the elevator horror film ‘Devil’? And has anyone recovered from ‘Spider-man 3’ yet?
